Retainers We Offer
We provide three primary types of retainers, each selected based on the specific clinical needs of the patient.
Vivera™ Retainers
Vivera retainers are custom-molded, transparent trays that fit precisely over your teeth. They are a popular choice for patients who used Invisalign® clear aligners because they are virtually invisible. Initially, we prescribe wearing these for 18 to 24 hours a day, eventually transitioning to overnight use only.
Hawley Retainers
The Hawley retainer is a durable, traditional option made of a metal wire and a sturdy acrylic base. This design allows for minor adjustments if needed and is known for its long-term reliability and ease of cleaning.
Bonded Retainers
Often called permanent or fixed retainers, these consist of a thin wire bonded to the back of the front teeth. This provides a secure, constant level of retention without the need for patient removal. We often recommend these following orthognathic surgery or complex alignment cases to ensure maximum stability.

Last night, my top permanent retainer messed up and has been stabbing me behind my front teeth.I panicked and set up an appointment online for Wednesday at Michigan City, but then noticed that the Laporte office is open on Tuesdays so I called as soon as they opened.The girl that answered the phone was so condescending and argued with me the entire time.First she kept going on about how the appointment I booked online was for a consultation, I told her that there was no place for a note or anything and it didn’t get me any options. It also said nothing about a consultation when I booked it. She talked to me like I was a complete idiot. I finally said can you help me with my retainer or not? Then she proceeded to talk about the price like she was trying to talk me out of it and then told me I could just get them removed. I told her I don’t want it removed I want it fixed. Then she said that she couldn’t get me in until next week. So I’m just supposed to be in pain until then? She recommended I try clipping it myself, are you serious? If it weren’t for your rude staff I would be more than glad to wait until next week but you will never get my business or any money from me again.
