Lingual Braces
What's the Difference?
The difference is invisible - Invisible Braces, the
state-of-the-art design that offers an amazing technological
advancement in orthodontic treatment. These braces are behind
some of the most dazzling smiles that you see everyday, and yet
you probably never noticed them. They are worn by people
of all ages in all walks of life, who, like you, desire a more
beautiful smile. Conventional braces, whether metal or ceramic,
are attached to the front of your teeth and therefore are
clearly visible. Lingual or Invisible Braces are applied behind
the teeth. Since they are difficult for the casual observer to
detect, Invisible Braces allow you to smile with confidence.
These braces are an alternative way to create a beautiful smile.
Can Anyone Wear Them?
Almost anyone who can benefit from conventional braces can also
wear Invisible Braces.
Are They Comfortable?
During the first week of wearing lingual braces, you may
experience some minor discomfort; however, within a few weeks,
most patients find that the tongue naturally adapts to the
brackets. Patients who have worn both conventional and lingual
braces commonly report less overall discomfort with their
Invisible Braces.
Will They Fit Your Lifestyle?
YES! Invisible Braces allow you the benefit of developing a
great smile while correcting your problem without interfering
with your appearance. Anyone who needs orthodontic care
and cannot compromise their appearance during treatment will
find Invisible Braces to be the answer.
Do They Work Well?
There are many different types of braces and treatment
techniques used by orthodontists based upon their experience,
education, and training. What each type must have in common is a
means of applying a directional pressure to the roots of your
teeth to allow controlled tooth movement to occur. In this
regard, the experienced orthodontist can obtain equivalent
results in similar lengths of treatment time by applying
pressure to the back (lingual) tooth surface instead of the
front. This is accomplished by attaching small metal brackets
with a special adhesive to the lingual surface of your teeth.
These brackets are then fitted with small, resilient archwires
which gradually move teeth into their desired position.
Who Needs Braces?
Many more than you think! Approximately 50 percent of all people
could benefit from orthodontics, and not just for
aesthetics. Conditions such as crooked teeth, gaps,
over-crowding, and bite problems not only detract from your
smile, these symptoms can also lead to other disorders such as
gum disease, tooth decay, temporomandibular joint disorders (TMJ),
and other health-related problems. Orthodontic treatment with
Invisible Braces can correct these conditions while improving
your physical appearance and promoting optimum oral health.
Braces are not used to create "just another pretty face." They
are an important tool utilized by the orthodontist to improve
your overall health.
